Ivakkak race will be on hold at Kuuvik until forecasted storm passes.

Ivakkak Update

Tough snow conditions have been making for long travel days for the teams, the soft snow, in particular, has been hard on the dog’s paws, causing some of the teams to no longer want to run.

A combination of factors will cause the race to go on hold, the vet along with some of the mushers have suggested that the teams rest today in order for the dogs to give their paws a break.

In addition to this, we now have high winds forecasted to begin tonight with blizzard conditions that are going to continue for the next few days. At this time it will be best for the teams to remain where they are and wait out the upcoming storm.
