This year’s Ivakkak race will keep the same route as planned in last year due to the cancellation that occurred in 2022. Please note the following requirements below and feel free to communicate with the contacts listed at the bottom.
2023 Rules and Regulations are included with this Announcement.
Mushers: Important notices!
• We are asking that all applying mushers send in pictures of the dogs they plan on using for the race and send to the coordinators for evaluation
• We would like all mushers that plan on racing to track their distance and time during training. It is important that the dogs can run the required daily distances (65km to 80km per day).
Support Staff: (UNGAVA COAST ONLY)
• Please note that one Support Crew Position is assigned 2 Ivakkak Teams. We will evaluate how many support crew we need once all mushers have applied.
• Note there will be 2 scouts, 2 trail coordinators
Note that some of the rules and regulations will come into effect for the 2024 edition as there are some requirements that will take time to achieve. The selected mushers and all crew will have a meeting in early February to begin planning together and ensure that everyone is well prepared.
