The Ivakkak dog team racers left Inukjuak at 10am today. There was a lively crowd there to support them as they left for their 77KM journey today. They travelled on land and went over some lakes. Allen Gordon could not continue the race for a medical reason, but his team is still racing. Amarutaq (Simeonie Weetaluktuk) replaced Gordon for the remainder of the race. He is resting in Inukjuak and will fly to Puvirnituq tomorrow to wait for his team’s arrival. The mushers and crew are currently at a fishing spot where there are about 10 cabins. They will leave tomorrow morning at 9am for a 80KM trek.
