Weather overcast, almost white out, light wind. A big crowd came to cheer the mushers.
Dogs were in transit from upriver to behind the community at tomorrow’s starting line. We took time to clean and repair some qamutiks, dried tents and equipment; and get lots of sleep. Everyone is ready.
The wind has been blowing pretty hard today. Calmer winds and mild temperatures are in the forecast for tomorrow, which should make for a nice start to this years edition of the Ivakkak Race.

The community of Umiujaq hosted a feast this evening to welcome all the mushers. There was songs and throat singing for everyone to enjoy along plenty of food to go around!
The final two teams belonging to Aisa Sirusilak and JeanMarie Beaulne from Puvirnituq have arrived in Umiujaq.

The charter from Kuujjuaq marks the arrival of 2 more teams from Kuujjuaq. Musher George Kauki, and his brother Aloupa Kauki along with Musher Allan Gordon and Partner Johnny Mangi Kooktook are now in Umiujaq and eagerly waiting for race day.
