The qimutsitiit and their dogs are stranded again, forced to spend the day waiting out the storm that managed to track them down again.

The qimutsitiit awoke this morning to the raring sound of the wind blowing just outside their igloos and tents. When they walked out of their warm shelters, they could hardly see the igloo or the tent next to them. Not only the wind was blowing, with 80km/hr gusts every now and then, but it was also snowing, which made it a complete whiteout. The race officials had to call off the departure planned for early morning towards Ivujivik, their next stop before the end of the race in Akulivik. After having delayed the start of the race for a couple of days, the qimutsitiit were hoping for clear sky and sunshine for the rest of the race, as spring should be here anytime soon, but it seems like the storm has tracked them down anyhow. While most of the qimutsitiit spent the day fine tuning their sleds, the dogs got to rest their paws, giving them a chance to heal their wounds caused by the rough snow onto which they have been running for a week now. After everything was taken care of, the qimutsitiit had no choice but to wait out the storm in their igloos and tents. They are hoping to be able to get back on the trail tomorrow morning, as everybody is getting anxious to reach the finish line in Akulivik.
