In the afternoon, a meeting was held at the school gymnasium by the race coordinators in order to work out some details with the racers, officials and support crew before the start of the race, scheduled for the next day.

The race coordinators, Isabelle Dubois of Kuujjuaq, representing Makivik, as well as Yaaka M. Yaaka of Kangiqsujuaq, gave a warm welcome to everybody, veteran and newcomers. The race officials, Adami Alaku of Salluit and Jacusie Ittukallaak of Puvirnituq, who was also an official for the first edition of Ivakkak in 2001, were then introduced to the rest of the group. Numbered singlets were distributed to each racer in the form of a draw (see results table down below to find out who has which number). The roles and responsibilities of each member of the support crew was then outlined by the racers and officials. After maps were distributed, the itinerary was also reviewed by all, section by section (Kangiqsujuaq to Raglan, Raglan to Salluit, Salluit to Ivujivik, and Ivujivik to Akulivik). Later on in the afternoon, everybody went shopping for food and other supplies at the local Co-op, stocking up for the road. There, each dog team was also given a bag of dog food, a winter formula specifically blended for Nunavik sled dogs. Courtesy of the Federation of Co-operatives of Northern Quebec (FCNQ), this donation will be repeated in each community that the dog teams will go through during the remainder of the race –Salluit, Ivujivik and Akulivik.
