The final sprint; many arrive in Quartaq from the other communities, there is great excitement and anticipation of the teams about to arrive

Many many Inuit arrive to Quartaq to watch and celebrate the last day of Ivakkak. The children of the community are adding to the chatter and shouts of delight, there is much excitement in the air, airplanes are arriving bringing in family members, friends, and others who wish to welcome the racers and congratulate them for an Ivakkak well done. Massiu Nassaq, who is from Quartaq, received a very warm welcome back; the Quartammiut hoisted him up as he arrived with his qimutsiit (dog team).
The winner? Junior May! He came in with a two-minute lead.
Second place? Charlie Watt Jr!
Junior and Charlie arrived neck and neck but Junior’s earlier fast times worked to his advantage and gave him first place.
Taamusie Sivuaraapik of Puvirnituq came in third and has placed bronze compared to the gold he had last year. He hands over the Ivakkak trophy to Junior May this year.
